You know, I was thinking it's time I cut back on my wine...

Ha, ha! April Fools!

Last night, we had a family dinner. Because we are going to make a huge Easter Sunday brunch we decided to take it easy - we had a Baked Potato Bar! For appetizers we had chips, crackers, four gourmet cheeses, apple slices, olives, artichoke, and tomatoes in basalmic vinegar. For potato toppers there was bacon, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, and slow roasted, shredded BBQ chicken. The desserts were cheesecake, lemon bars and raspberry bars. Ok...maybe we didn't take it THAT easy. Yes, my family does enjoy their food; almost as much as we enjoy our wine.

I have been on a white wine kick and found that a Hahn Chardonnay worked really well with the whipped potatoes. My sister went for red and paired her meal with the V Sattui Family Red blend. Though it is a lighter wine, it meshed well with the thick chunks of smokey bacon on top.
